Forex reserves scale new peak

MUMBAI, JUNE 16. Foreign currency reserves have scaled a new peak by crossing the $43 billion mark to $43.01 billion following fresh inflows for the week ended June 8. Foreign reserves rose by $95 million in the reporting week from $42.91 billion in the previous week.

The foreign currency assets (FCA) swelled by $95 million to $40.19 billion in the week ended June 8, according to the Reserve Bank of India's Weekly Statistical Supplement.

Gold reserves and special drawing rights stood at $2.82 billion and $4 million respectively, the same as in the previous week. The foreign currency assets expressed in dollar terms include the effect of appreciation/depreciation of non-us currencies such as euro, sterling and yen. -
