Girls fare better than boys in EAMCET

HYDERABAD, JUNE 18. As usual, girls fared better than boys in the
EAMCET results of which were announced here on Monday. A total of
1,39,346 candidates appeared in the engineering stream of which
1,17,236 qualified, including 33,271 girls. In the agriculture
and medical stream, 39,203 candidates appeared of whom 35,229
qualified, including 16,930 girls.
Besides, 15,731 SC and 3030 ST candidates qualified in the
engineering stream and 9,577 SC and 2,301 ST candidates qualified
in the agriculture and medical stream.
The Minister for Technical Education, Mr. A. Rajendra Prasad,
released the results at JNTU. The Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Y.
Venkatarami Reddy, and chairman, A.P. State Council for Higher
Education, Mr. C. Subba Rao, were also present.
After scrutinising the responses made by the public to the
initial key, an expert committee recommended deletion of question
No. 79 in mathematics and question 114 and 148 in physics (E-
stream). For question 53 in zoology (AM-stream), alternative
answer 1 is recommended in addition to the answer 3 already given
in the initial key. For question 149 in physics (AM-stream)
alternative answer 4 is recommended in addition to answer 2 given
in the initial key. Similarly, for question 104 of physics (AM-
stream) answer 2 is recommended instead of answer 1 given in the
initial key. These recommendations have been incorporated while
processing the results, the Minister said.
He said, as compared to last year, the number of qualified
candidates in the engineering stream had increased while those in
the agriculture and medical stream registered a fall.
Mr. Venkatarami Reddy said the JNTU was releasing the EAMCET
results for the fourth consecutive year. He thanked the
Government for reposing confidence in the university.
Mr. G. Prashanth bagged the first rank in the medicine stream,
according to Kakatiya Academy where he studied. The academy
students Ms. Farha Jabeen bagged the fifth rank while Mr. D.
Sriram got the eighth rank. According to academy officials, their
students bagged thirteen more ranks. K. Yoganand of Eluru in West
Godavari secured the second rank in medical stream. The fifth
rank in medical stream went to Usha Kiran of Guntur and ninth
rank to Sanjeev Reddy. In the engineering stream, the seventh
rank was bagged by V. Laxmi Devi. All of them are students of Sri
Chaitanya Educational Institute.
Meanwhile, the institute Director, Dr. B.S. Rao, claimed that its
students had bagged three State ranks (below 10), 38 ranks (below
100), 203 (below 500) and 420 (below 1000) in the medical stream.
In the engineering stream, the Chaitanya students got one rank
(below 10), 19 (below 100), 102 (below 500) and 186 (below 1000).
The Guntur Vikas educational Institutions have claimed that their
students - D. Varun and P. Vamsi Mohan - bagged 3rd and 6th ranks
respectively. The other successful students were A. Prasanthi and
A.M. Ramana Reddy (both 11th rank), P. Raghuram (15th rank and K.
Praveen Chowdary (16th rank). Vigyan Vidyalayam Junior College
student R. Giridhar bagged the fourth rank in the medicine
stream.
All the rank-holders attributed their success to the coaching and
encouragement given by teachers at Chaitanya. Yoganand, who got
the second rank in the medical stream, said he had put in long
hours at study. Usha Kiran, the fifth ranker, thanked her
teachers for the coaching they gave and her mother for the
encouragement she provided.
