Ticket-issuing machines introduced in Metroliners
By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD, JUNE 18. The Hyderabad City region of the Andhra
Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation on Monday introduced
ticket-issuing machines (TIMs) in its Metroliner services being
operated on the Secunderabad-Patancheru route (no.226).
The drivers will issue the tickets to passengers, Mr. R.P. Singh,
Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, APSRTC, told presspersons
later. The TIMSs will be available in 10 vehicles.
Replying to a question, Mr. Singh sought to dispel the fears
expressed by some APSRTC trade unions about loss of jobs to
conductors following the introduction of TIMs. There would be no
threat to the existing jobs. There may not be any future
recruitment of conductors, he stated.
Hi-tech buses launched
Mr. Singh also launched newly-designed hi-tech buses on the
Bangalore sector from the BHEL/Miyapur bus stations. Four such
vehicles, of the Sutlej make 8-500, are to be run on this route.
The buses from Miyapur will leave at 5 p.m. In the return
direction, they will leave Bangalore at 6.30 p.m. They will
depart at BHEL at 7.45 p.m. and at Bangalore at 8.30 p.m.
The passengers who wish to travel by these buses to Bangalore
could procure tickets from the authorised reservation counters at
Ameerpet (near Charmas, tel:6621465), Balanagar (City bus stop,
tel:3771740), BHEL (near Keerthi Mahal, tel:3025697), Bharatnagar
(Moosapet, tel:3813681), Chandanagar (bus stop, tel: 30333722),
Kukatpally (KHHB main road, tel: 3069619, 3067531), S.R. Nagar
(near bus stop, tel: 3735013), Sanathnagar (near police station,
tel: 3719174), Lakdikapul (near Rajdoot Hotel, tel: 3212108),
Miyapur (Miyapur Crossroads, tel: 3043699) and Motinagar
(Motinagar Crossroads, tel: 3831460).
A press release issued by the APSRTC stated that the its
operations on the inter-State routes had been extended. The
services within the State were being connected to important
colonies like A.S. Raonagar, Safilguda, Gachibowli and BHEL,
besides the Mahatma Gandhi and Jubilee Bus stations.
