50 drown in boat tragedy

MALDA (W.B.), JUNE 23. More than 50 people were feared drowned when a boat capsized midstream in the Ganges near Eksatichar in West Bengal's Malda district today, official sources said.

The overcrowded boat capsized when a wave swamped and disabled the engine, the DIG (Malda), Mr. P. K. Roy, who was supervising the rescue operations said.
