43 hurt in blast
JAMMU, JUNE 25. Forty-three people were injured, some of them
seriously, when a bomb placed in a scooter parked outside the
railway station here exploded tonight, police said.
The explosion, which occurred at 9.10 p.m., came barely 20
minutes before the departure of the Jhelum Express causing panic
among the passengers, they said. The injured were immediately
rushed to the Jammu Medical Hospital.
The entire area was cordoned off and search was on for those
behind the blast, suspected to be the handiwork of militants,
they added.
However, no militant organisation has claimed responsibility as
yet. Senior officers, including the IGP, Jammu Zone, Mr. R. V.
Raju, rushed to the spot with the bomb disposal squad and sniffer
dogs.
