Pivotals kindle some interest
MUMBAI, JUNE 27. The Sensex managed to close in the black,
supported by a smart upsurge in heavyweights such as Reliance
Industries, Tisco, Telco, L&T and NIIT, in continuous volatile
activity on the Bombay Stock Exchange today.
In addition to the key index counters, select second-line stocks
including some K-10 scrips attracted fresh buying interest and
scored impressive gains.Several technology shares fluctuated
widely hitting 8 per cent upper and lower circuit filter before
closing in the positive territory.
The BSE sensitive index opened steady at 3407.68 and was later
trapped in small range of about 56 points between 3434.13 and
3378.53 before closing at 3411.60 against yesterday's close of
3407.32, a net gain of 4.32 points.
Market sources said some Hong Kong-based funds were selling
heavily in a few scrips while other foreign institutional
investors made fresh purchases in technology stocks which had
been battered continuously in recent months after the arrest of a
big bull Ketan Parekh. Even the Unit Trust of India was seller in
some stocks, sources added.
