'Ice lingam' worshipped
SRINAGAR, JUNE 28. Scores of pilgrims have visited the Amarnath
holy shrine and offered prayers at the ice Shiva lingam.
The Shankaracharya of Kanchipuram Math, Sri Jayendra Saraswati,
visited the shrine on Wednesday and offered prayers. The
Shankaracharya prayed for peace and prosperity in the country.
About 80,000 yatris have registered themselves so far for this
year's annual pilgrimage of holy Amarnath shrine in south Kashmir
Himalayas.
Adequate security arrangements have been made for the month-long
yatra which will commence on July 4 and end on August 4, Shravan
Puranmashi day.
