DHAKA, JUNE 28. The Bangladesh Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina,
will hand over power on July 15 to the interim caretaker
Government for holding fresh election to Parliament.
The former Chief Justice, Mr. Latifur Rahman, is certain to take
oath as head of the non-party caretaker government to hold the
election within 90 days of dissolution of Parliament on July 12.
The Prime Minister told the official news agency BSS that she
would relinquish power in the evening of July 15.
Prior to that, Ms. Hasina will address a public rally in Dhaka on
that day to celebrate the completion of her five years in the
office, the first ever by any elected government in the country.
