Rights come with duties
Sir, - Constitutional functionaries like Ministers deserve
certain privileges when they hold office, but these are
accompanied by Constitutional responsibilities. Obstructing the
procedure of the State police and assaulting an officer in
uniform are neither a privilege nor an exhibition of
responsibility.
The Union Cabinet decided that the Governor did not apply her
`independent' mind in preparing her report. The same Cabinet
failed to accept that two of the Ministers did not maintain
decorum in discharging their responsibilities in respecting
Constitutional propriety and the law of the land.
B.G. Prakash,
Bangalore
