Star-gazing
IT WAS a star-studded affair. Not meant to be a `show' in the
strictest sense. It turned out to be an audio release ritual
flooded by celebrities.
Prashanth and Rinke Khanna, the lead pair of `Majnu' were the
first to arrive. Lyricist Vairamuthu was there on the dot. The
director Ravichandran was present too. And soon we caught a
glimpse of the talented low-profile music director Harris
Jeyaraj.
Prashanth sporting a stubble and bright multi-coloured shirt was
his usual casual self as he spent time greeting and mingling with
friends. Rinke attired in a short kurta and suit sat right in
front along with her designer.
While a compere tried to keep everybody entertained playing clips
of Cee (I) TV, lensmen feasted on the `photo-opps'. When Lara
Dutta made a surprise entry with Kelly Dorji, the shutterbugs
seemed to have got more than what they had bargained for.
Producer, Dr. Murali Manohar was spotted too, looking a bit
tensed about the proceedings. Even as Lara Dutta was given the
seat right next to Prashanth, even as Kelly Dorji stood neglected
by the crowd, leaning against a wall.
Soon, the ex-Miss Universe was called upon to release the audio
of `Majnu'. Vairamuthu who spoke first, urged the shy music
director Harris Jeyaraj to say a few words.
The audience was shown clips of `Gulmohar Malarae', one of the
prospective hits from the album. Even as the formalities soon
came to an end, the camerapersons caught hold of Mr and Mrs.
Madhavan, who landed up. All the celebs exchanged pleasantries,
it was a glorious buffet for the lensmen.
Dinner was next on the cards, but many chose to spend their time
inside, star-gazing.
