Bajaj Auto opts for 5 day week at Pune plant
MUMBAI: Bajaj Auto has decided to have a five-day week for daily-
rated workmen at its plant in Akurdi, Pune from July 13. In a
communication to the Bombay Stock Exchange the company said it
had taken the decision due to general economic slowdown, changing
preference of customers from scooters and motorcycles, the onset
of monsoon and consequent sluggishness in demand for scooters.
However, the company said it would review the situation from time
to time with a view to restoring a six-day working week. - PTI

TVSE becomes QS 9000 compliant
NEW DELHI: TVS Electronics has got the QS 9000 certification from
TUV Rheinland. The route to the exacting QS 9000, by most
companies, is usually after securing an ISO 9000 certification.
However, on the back of its success at Elcina 2000 where it
secured the first position for excellence in quality management,
TVS Electronics decided to go for QS 9000 right away. The process
of adopting QS 9000 started in June 2000. TUV Rhineland conducted
a pre-assessment audit in November 2000. It performed the final
assessment of the processes and systems at TVSE Guindy plant in
Chennai and recommended certification. There will be surveillance
assessment every year and re-certification after three years.
