Key Sena meeting tomorrow
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, AUG. 8. The Bharatiya Janata Party is not expecting
any major change in the Shiv Sena's stance towards the National
Democratic Alliance, at least not till August 11), when the Sena
chief, Mr. Bal Thackeray, has reportedly summoned all his party
MPs for a meeting in Mumbai.
Senior BJP leaders said today that whatever decision the Sena has
to take will be only after the meeting. There is also a scheduled
annual Sena ritual which will take place on August 13, where
every year Mr. Thackeray makes a public speech. The BJP will be
looking out to see what Mr. Thackeray has to say.
Mr. Manohar Joshi, Shiv Sena Union Cabinet Minister, clarified
today that yesterday when a group of four MPs went to meet the
Prime Minister, the intention was for Mr. Sanjay Nirupam to offer
a personal apology to Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee. Later, he said,
the group left without meeting the Prime Minister as it thought
it would be better to send a written apology. Mr Joshi said
reports that Mr. Vajpayee did not give them any time were
``baseless.''
