Creditable show by Nishank

NEW DELHI, AUG. 8. Nishank Mishra came up with a creditable 6-3, 6-4 victory over Bernhard Deussner of Austria in the ITF junior tennis tournament in Luxembourg last week.

It was a good fare from the Delhi boy who had a bye in the first round, as he bounced back from being 1-4 down in the second set to beat the third best junior from Austria, on clay.

Nishank went down fighting 5-7, 3-6 to Dori Sadovnik of Israel in the pre-quarterfinals of the 64-draw event. He was serving for the first set at 5-3 and had a setpoint as well, but could not capitalise on the advantage.

In partnership with Dannio Yahya of Malaysia, Nishank fought against Laurent Bram of Luxembourg and Roman Kutac of the Czech Republic, before losing 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 3-6 in the first round of doubles.

After a short stay at home, Nishank is scheduled to compete in the junior event in South Africa next week.
