The week ahead

THIS week begins a three-month interlude between the first and second oppositions of Saturn in Gemini to Pluto in Sagittarius. The historic opposition occurs three times this Century in rounds of three.

The first of the current group occurred last week. The second face-off between the two fateful planets occurs again on November 2, 2001.

During the upcoming three months, you will feel a pressure to address and correct all aspects of your life that are not working.

The third and final opposition between Saturn and Pluto occurs on May 26, 2002, when you will finally resolve unworkable issues you have encountered. There will not be another group of Saturn-Pluto oppositions until 2036.

APA MRITYU, Akala Maranam etc., are terms indicating untimely and unfortunate death. Many combinations of planets presage such undesirable possibility.

Ayush Karaka, Lagan lord, the lord of the Eighth, etc. must all be favourable in a natal chart to avoid such doom. When such planets are not favourable, individually or in combination, and when they come to rule as Maha Dasa lord of Bhukthi lord, should bad Gochara effects also combine, death may inevitably ensue. The best remedy is to perform Ayushya Homam on every birthday, as reckoned by the birth-star - and not by the English anniversary date. Mrithyunjaya Japa and Homa meticulously done by qualified pandits will help. A devout pilgrimage to worship fervently at the shrine in Tirukkadaiyur is also suggested.
