Foreigners upset
JAIPUR, SEPT. 9. Annoyed over the CBI raid on the ``Palace on
Wheels'', foreign tourists said this was an attack on their
privacy.
``Foreigners, who had paid heavily to have an enjoyable
experience of India on the train, feel the raid is an intrusion
on their privacy,'' Mr. Anthony P Licata from the U.S. told a PTI
correspondent.
Of the 38 foreigners abroad the train, 20 held a meeting in the
Maharaja lounge denouncing the surprise check, Mr. Licata said.
``They (CBI sleuths) disturbed our sleep in the afternoon. They
checked passports of each of us,'' said a Chinese national.
``Next time, we will think twice before recommending this journey
in India,'' she said preferring anonymity.
Some of the foreigners met the RTDC chairman, Mr. Rajiv Arora,
and protested at the raid which they said was ``unprecedented''.
Two Indian travel and tour agents, Mr. Rajiv Varma and Mr. Sunil
Sharma, said ``we will not recommend any foreigners to travel on
the luxurious train as the CBI raid was most unfortunate''.
