BMP unveils Rs.988-cr. infrastructure plan

BANGALORE, SEPT. 9. The Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) has
formulated a Rs.988-crore plan for providing basic amenities and
infrastructure to Bangaloreans in the next three years, the BMP
Commissioner, Mr. Ashok M.Dalwai, has said.
Speaking at a function organised by the BMP to inaugurate several
development works in Timber Yard Layout and Raghavanagar in Gali
Anjaneya Swamy Ward here on Sunday, he said the State Government
would provide Rs.250 crores, the BMP would contribute Rs.111
crores and a loan of Rs.627 crores would be availed of from
various agencies to implement the plan.
He reiterated that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) the BMP
signed with the State Government would facilitate the effective
implementation of the projects, including construction of
flyovers and comprehensive development of new wards.
Tendering process for the construction of three flyovers at
Hudson Circle, K.R.Circle and Rajajinagar Entrance would begin
soon. The flyovers would be built at a cost of Rs.50 crores, he
said.
The Binnypet MLA, Mr. V.Somanna, inaugurated the bridge built
across 1st and 3rd main roads in Timber Yard Layout and the new
ward office in Raghavanagar.
He suggested that mini flyovers should be built at
Byatarayanapura Junction and West of Chord Road Junction for the
convenience of commuters from Magadi Road, Mysore Road and
Vijayanagar. Work on the flyover at Rajajinagar Entrance should
begin at the earliest, he said.
Elaborating on the various development works taken up in his
constituency (Binnypet), he said efforts were on to provide
drinking water on a daily basis to all layouts in Binnypet.
A new park in Timber Yard Layout was named after Balagangdharnath
Swamy of Adi Chunchungiri Math. The park was inaugurated by the
swamiji himself.
The Mayor, Ms. Prema Cariappa, said the BMP was working towards
fulfilling the Chief Minister, Mr. S.M.Krishna's desire of
transforming Bangalore on the lines of Singapore.
The Deputy Mayor, Mr. B.S.Puttaraju, a former Mayor, Mr.
K.H.N.Simha, several corporators and Chairmen of Standing
Committees, and the area corporator, Mr. M.Laxmi Narayana, were
present.
