Seven Sri Lankan soldiers killed in blast

COLOMBO, OCT. 24. Seven soldiers, including an officer, were
killed and one wounded in a landmine blast in the Jaffna
peninsula in northern Sri Lanka today, the first incident of its
kind in several months.
The Lieutenant Colonel was on his way to the Palaly military base
when his vehicle was blown up by the landmine at Kunjarkadai, 2
km west of Nelliadi.
The area is a well-populated part of Jaffna under the control of
the security forces.
