Good war, bad peace
Sir, - The article `Never a good war or a bad peace' (Sunday
Magazine, Oct. 28) raises two points: Washington did not ask
itself the right questions before embarking on the airstrikes on
Afghanistan and that people tend to brand all Muslims as
terrorists.
What else could the U.S. have done when important landmarks in
big cities were being attacked? If Saddam Hussain is quiet today,
it is because of the strong military action by the U.S. and its
allies a decade ago. U.S. bashing will not help rid the world of
the menace of terrorism.
No one in India has overtly or covertly stated that all Muslims
were terrorists. But a section of the English press has been
trying to paint such a picture probably to prove their `secular'
credentials.
