Past BMP polls were more violent: CM
By Our Staff Reporter
BANGALORE, NOV. 13. The Chief Minsiter, Mr. S.M.Krishna, has
questioned the claims of the BJP and other Opposition parties
that the disturbances witnessed during Sunday's Bangalore
Mahanagara Palike (BMP) polls were unprecedented.
Addressing the newly-elected corporators here on Tuesday, he said
the past elections were more violent.
``The public has given a fitting reply to those who were talking
about the misgovernance of our Government,'' he said.
The public support for people-friendly development projects in
the past two years has helped the Congress live up to its
expectations in the BMP polls, he said.
He was confident that the Congress would fare equally well in the
Mangalore City Corporation polls scheduled for February.
Mr. Krishna announced that the works to improve the roads and
desilt stormwater drains in the City would be intensified.
