Afghan meet put off by a day
UNITED NATIONS, NOV. 24. The U.N.-sponsored talks on forming an
interim administrative set-up in Afghanistan, scheduled to begin
in Bonn on Monday, has been put off by a day to allow time for
Afghan representatives to hold consultations before the formal
opening of negotiations.
The U.N. has decided to commence talks on Tuesday as it will
provide 20-30 representatives of various factions to have
informal consultations amongst themselves in Bonn prior to the
formal sessions, Mr. Ahmed Fawzi, spokesperson for U.N.'s top
Afghan envoy, Mr. Lakhdar Brahimi, told presspersons here. The
Taliban has not been invited for the meeting, he added.
