Set a common goal to realise HR: Advani

KARIMNAGAR, DEC. 9. The Union Home Minister, Mr L.K Adavani, has stressed on the need to set a common goal envisaging full realisation of human resource of the country.

Speaking after inaugurating the Prathima Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) buildings here at Nagunuru village about 10 kilometers from Karimnagar town on Sunday afternoon, Mr Advani said that despite having immense talent the country remained backward due to lack of common objective. Before 1947, the country had a single point objective of achieving freedom from foreigners and everyone participated in the movement.

``We have several NRIs in many countries, but their contribution is very less in India,'' he said. ``I cannot blame NRIs or any others for their poor contributions for the country. Actually, we are not motivating the NRIs for investments in their country," he said. He complimented the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Mr Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, for motivating an NRI of Karimnagar, Mr Prabhakar Rao, for contributing in setting up a super speciality hospital in Karimnagar and completing it within six months.

Recollecting the remarks made by Nobel Laureate, Mr Amartya Sen, the Union Minister said attributed the present state of affairs to inadequate emphasis on health and education sector in the country. He said that Indian institutions such as National Police Academy in Hyderabad and others have become potential centres for transforming the citizens into role models of the future.

The Chief Minister, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, appreciated the NRIs of the district for setting up the super speciality hospital in Karimnagar district. He said that his Government was striving to control population growth and reducing communicable diseases. He expressed concern over the high incidence of heart related diseases due to stress and smoking of tobacco. He called upon the PIMS to create an awareness among the people about the prevention of various diseases.

The PIMS board of director, Dr Prabhakar Rao Guniganti, said that he along with other NRIs had taken up the project in Janmabhoomi spirit. He said that the PIMS would a non-profit making institution. Mr Vidyasagar Rao presided over the meeting, the Minister for Health, Dr N Janardhan Reddy, and the PIMS managing director, Mr B Srinviasa Rao, spoke on the occasion. The Minister for Technical Education, Mr M Damodar Reddy, the Minister for Labour, Mr S Devaiah, the PIMS directors, Messers Prathima Gunigati, Ch Marthanda Rao, Dr T Ramesh, K Sudarshan Reddy, Ch Sudhakar Rao and others were also present.

Assurance to Afghanisation

Mr Advani promised to provide all assistance for the restructuring of the war-ravaged Afghanistan country and internal security.

Talking to newsmen at Nagunuru village after participating in the inauguration of PIMS multi-speciality hospital and medical college buildings, the Union Minister said that he had assured the Afghanistan Interior Minister, Mr Yonus Qanooni, who had visited India on Friday seeking assistance in interal security, that India would provide all assistance to the country in providing internal security as well as reconstruction of the war-ravaged country. He said that the government had appointed five officers who would visit Kabul.

Mr Advani said that he had also suggested the Afghan Minister visit the National Police Academy in Hyderabad for efficient internal policing.
