RSS denies Sudarshan's statement on Muslims
NEW DELHI, JAN. 1. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) today denied the reported statement of its chief, Mr. K. S. Sudarshan, that the Muslims be forced out of India and pushed into Pakistan to ``complete the unfinished agenda of the partition''
In a statement, the RSS media cell described as ``misleading and wilfully misconceived'' a report published in an English daily recently that attributed the controversial remark to Mr. Sudarshan.
The media cell clarified that Mr. Sudarshan had merely stated that at the time of partition, Mohammad Ali Jinnah had wanted all the Muslims to shift to Pakistan and the Hindus to India as the country was divided on the basis of religion. Sardar Patel had also favoured the idea.
Mr. Sudarshan had also said that ultimately it was agreed upon that the two countries would take care of their respective minorities. ``While India honoured its commitment, Pakistan and Bangladesh tortured the Hindu minority,'' the media cell quoted the RSS chief as having said.
``This cannot and should not imply that the RSS chief wanted transfer of the Hindus to India or vice versa as on today,'' it said.
Meanwhile, the All-India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat president, Mr. Syed Shahabuddin, today described the alleged statement of Mr. Sudarshan as ``anti-secular, anti-national and anti-Indian''.
He asked the NDA allies of the BJP to dissociate themselves with the reported statement.
