Crackdown in Punjab province
By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD, JAN. 4 For the first time since the latest crackdown on jehadi outfits, Pakistan extended the net to the Punjab province, considered the hub of some of the main Pakistan- based militant organisations.

Reports from different parts of Punjab suggested that in the last 48 hours, authorities had rounded up activists and cadres of the Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad and Tehreek-e-Jafria.

It was not clear under what law these persons had been picked up and what kind of action the Government intended to take against them.
