Exciting win for Hyderabad

VISAKHAPATNAM, JAN. 5. Test medium pacer Tinu Yohannan picked up three Hyderabad wickets late in the innings but Kerala could not prevent Hyderabad from reaching the target with two wickets in hand and only three balls to spare in its K.S. Subbiah Pillai Trophy limited-over tournament match at the Ukku Stadium here on Saturday.

The hero of Hyderabad's exciting win was middle order batsman Anirudh Singh, who scored an unbeaten 86 (80b, 6x1, 4x2) and shared an 87-run fifth-wicket partnership with Arjun Yadav (41, 41b, 4x3).

In the Kerala innings, Ajay Kudua (70, 82b, 4x4) and opener V. Suresh (63, 81b, 4x7) put on 124 runs for the second wicket. And after Shivaji Yadav picked up four wickets, Sunil Oasis (47, 49b, 6x1, 4x3) added 63 runs for the sixth wicket with Chandrasekhara (29, 38b, 6x1, 4x1) in Kerala's total of 273 for eight.

Hyderabad now has eight points from three matches and Kerala has five from three matches.The tournament resumes on Monday after a day of rest on Sunday.Karnataka leads the table with 14 points, after winning all its matches so far in the five-team round-robin format. It also secured a bonus point each from its wins over Hyderabad and Kerala.

Andhra and Hyderabad are in second place with eight points each (two wins), followed by Tamil Nadu and Kerala (five points each, including one bonus from one win) points. Goa is yet to open its account. The tournament concludes on Tuesday.lThe scores:
