Vote bank politics

Sir, — One can understand Mulayam Singh Yadav's anxiety to please his vote bank. It is not fair to compare the Vishwa Hindu Parishad with the Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Jaish-e-Mohammad.

The Hindu organisations have not carried out any mass murders, ethnic cleansing or any such activity. In fact, even after the December 13 episode, there was no violence against any minority community in any part of the country.

Paradoxically, the only Indian state in which the killing of minority populations and ethnic cleansing go on is Kashmir.

Sundari Murugan,
Mumbai
