Maintain pressure on Pak., says V.P. Singh
- PTI

LUCKNOW, JAN. 20. The former Prime Minister, V.P. Singh, today said India should keep up diplomatic and military pressure on Pakistan but allow some more time to the Pakistan President, Pervez Musharraf, to implement his promise of crackdown on terrorist outfits. Terming Gen. Musharraf's recent speech as ``bold and courageous'', Mr. Singh said that ``India should wait for implementation of his promises''.

He, however, dismissed the possibility of an Indo-Pak. war. Mr. Singh said the U.S. Secretary of State, Colin Powell's recent visit was ``positive''.

On the coffin controversy, he accused the Union Government of ``trying to shield'' the guilty and said those found involved in defence scams should be tried for treason.
