By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, JAN. 23. To commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relationship between the two countries, the Indo-Japan Centre, Chennai, has planned a year- long programme of educational and cultural events.

On January 28, the Consul-General of Japan in Chennai, Masayuki Makia, will inaugurate the celebrations which would include ikebana, tea ceremony, karate, judo, traditional Indian music and folk dances. Seminars on furthering the Japanese culture and business prospects are also being planned and the Indo-Japan Centre hopes that the goodwill of the Japanese community in Chennai would help to strengthen the bilateral ties.
