Govt. reviewing use of stamp paper in registration
By Our Special Correspondent
BANGALORE, JAN. 28. The Chief Minister, S.M.Krishna, told the Legislative Assembly today that in the light of the stamp paper racket, the Government was re-examining the system of stamp paper use in revenue registrations.
Questions like whether it would be possible to replace the system with a better and fool-proof method were being examined. Reforms and simplification in revenue administration initiated by the previous Government, when B.Somasekhar was the Revenue Minister, would continue and the Government would certainly implement those found useful and practical.
Earlier, participating in the discussion on the issue, the leader of the JD(U) group in the Assembly, P.G.R.Sindhia, suggested to the Tourism Minister, R.Roshan Baig, to resign from the ministry as his brother appeared to be involved in the case.
Mr. Baig could be reinducted once it was proved that he had nothing to do in the case by the investigation.
