APCC cell on seat-sharing meets
By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, FEB.2 The five-member cell constituted by the APCC president, M. Satyanarayana Rao, to discuss seat-sharing with the Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) has held informal consultations among its members.

P. Janardhan Reddy, former minister, is the convener of the cell which has D.Nagender, MLA, K.R.Amos, Anjan Kumar Yadav, City Congress Committee president, and Mohd.Shabbir Ali, former Minister, as members.

After consultations, the cell authorised Mr. Amos to get in touch with the MIM leadership on working out the modalities of the proposed seat arrangement with the MIM, Mr. Janardhan Reddy told The Hindu on Saturday.

He said Mr. Amos was expected to contact either today or tomorrow the MIM leader, Asaduddin Owaisi, who had held initial talks with the CLP leader,Y.S.Rajashekhar Reddy, last week, on seat-sharing.

Mr. Reddy ruled out the possibility of any seat-sharing, working arrangement or even discussions with the TDP-BJP combine. "There is no question of this possibility," he asserted.

Meanwhile, the APCC has decided to conduct training classes for the 20 newly-elected party corporators. Senior party leaders like K.Keshava Rao, K. Rosaiah, Amos, M. Shashidhar Reddy and M. Sridhar Reddy, among others, are expected shortly to give lectures to the corporators.

The issue of the training classes was broached on Thursday by Y. Lakshman, corporator-elect from Shantinagar, at a function organised in Gandhi Bhavan by the City Congress Committee to felicitate the newly-elected corportors. Mr. Satyanarayana Rao had readily responded to the suggestion and promised to work out the details.

The classes are to focus on the working of the MCH, particularly the wings like town planning, the Standing Committee set-up, powers of the corporators, and the various laws enforced by the civic body.
