Ravi sees bid to isolate Muslims
By Our Staff Reporter

KANNUR, JAN. 2. Vayalar Ravi, former KPCC president, has said that covert efforts are on to isolate Muslims from the national mainstream with the support of the BJP-led Government at the Centre.

Inaugurating a `gathering' of nationalist Muslims organised by the M. Abdurrahiman Memorial Trust at the DCC Auditorium here today, Mr. Ravi said the Muslims were at the receiving end of the ongoing moves to marginalise them.

Recalling the `heroic' role played by the Muslim community in the freedom struggle, he said many of the Muslim leaders who led the struggle for Independence had been as prominent as Gandhiji and Jawaharlal Nehru. The loyalty of the Muslims who remained in the country could never be questioned, he added.

The trust chairman, M. Abdurrahiman, presided over the function. The KPCC general secretary, Ajay Tharayil, and the DCC president, Sunny Joseph, were present.
