Checking of number plate colour from July 2

By Our Special Correspondent

BANGALORE FEB. 7. The owners of non-transport vehicles, such as cars, motorcycles, scooters, and mopeds should change the colour of the number plates of the vehicles on or before July 1. These vehicles will be checked for compliance of the colour code for number plates from July 2, according to the Commissioner for Transport, T. Thimme Gowda. Owners of many vehicles are using stickers to change the colour of number plates. As stickers can be removed easily, vehicle owners have been advised to get number plates painted. Cars manufactured and registered on or after March 25, 1994, are fitted with safety seat belts both for the driver and the passenger in the front seat. Such vehicles will be checked for violation of the rule on safety belts.
