Forex reserves up $313m

MUMBAI FEB. 9. Foreign exchange reserves continued the upswing with a rise of $313 million to touch a new record high at $49.57 billion during the week ended February 1.

Foreign currency assets rose to $46.65 billion, an increase of $256 million in the reporting week, according to the Reserve Bank of India's weekly statistical supplement issued here today.

During the past eight weeks, foreign currency reserves have grown by $2.38 billion, including a massive flow of $728 million during the week ended December 14.

Gold reserves improved by $57 million to $2.92 billion in the reporting week while special drawing rights remained unchanged at $5 million.

Loans and advances to the Central Government stood at Rs. 6,145 crores, up Rs. 252 crores during the week ended February 1. — PTI
