BANGALORE, FEB. 21. INSAT 3C, India's latest multi-purpose geostationary satellite, is operational, P.S. Goel, Director, ISRO Satellite Centre, has said. This adds 30 transponders to the existing capacity. The satellite, launched on January 24 by the French Ariane 42L Launch Vehicle from Kourou, French Guyana, carries 24 C-band transponders, six extended C-band transponders, two S-band transponders, and a Mobile Satellite Service Transponder operating in S-band up link and C-band down link. Payloads were now being used by the end users, Mr. Goel told presspersons on the sidelines of an international conference on Electromagnetic Interference at the ISAC here on Thursday.
