IT raids on builders' premises
BHOPAL, FEB. 23.The Income-Tax department is carrying out searches at the offices and premises of five groups of builders, three here and two at Raipur in neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
The searches, being carried out by the Directorate of Investigation, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh of the Income-Tax department since February 21, are still going on and would continue for one or two days more, the Director-General of Income-Tax (Investigation), A. C. Chandra, said in a statement today.
Search was on at 14 premises here, Mr. Chandra said. Twelve premises belonging to these parties at Pune, Mumbai and Indore are also being surveyed under Section 133 of the Income- Tax Act.
Search operations initiated at Bhopal, Indore, Pune and Raipur have revealed huge concealment of income and evasion of taxes by these groups of builders, he said.
