CPI(M) sees need to reorient cadre
KOLKATA, FEB 23. The CPI(M)'s West Bengal unit has identified corruption, factionalism and lack of ideology as the maladies afflicting the party organisation, and stressed on reorientation of the cadre to cope up with the changing times.
``These vices have afflicted a section of our comrades. We don't suffer from any illusion that all our comrades are equally honest and competent,'' the State CPI(M) Secretary, Anil Biswas, told reporters here today. The only way to set things right was to raise consciousness among the cadre about Communist values and principles.
Mr. Biswas, who moved the draft political- organisational report at the party's State conference which began here yesterday, called for building a `principled' and `flawless' party by fighting the maladies including ``bureacratic tendencies'' at all levels of the party.
He said reorientation of the cadre was also needed to implement the policies of the Left Front Government in the changed socio-political and economic scenario. He said all the delegates, who participated in the discussion on the report, supported the document.
