`Sectarian musings'

Sir, — Your lucid Editorial `Sectarian musings' clearly traces the track record of Mr. Vajpayee in speaking out his real mind at regular intervals, be it at Varanasi or Staten Island or about the Ram temple at Ayodhya being ``an expression of national sentiment''.

It appears that Mr. Vajpayee has an internal compulsion to unmask himself periodically. On witnessing the unwelcome reaction caused by the ugly revelation, he hastily tries to put back the mask, only to repeat the show some time later again.
