Once this happens, the States which compete with others to sell their lottery tickets would fall in line, according to industry sources. Globally, the lottery business is worth $125 billions. In India, 14 States are in the business, worth is a whopping Rs. 30,000 crores a year. Apart from the North-Eastern States, the others who operate lotteries are Kerala, Goa, West Bengal and Haryana. Tomorrow, some 400 retail centres with online facilities will become operational for Super Lotto. Playwin Infravest, promoted by the Essel Group, are the infrastructure providers for the operations. According to the Essel Group Chairman, Subhash Chandra, in Super Lotto, 20 per cent of the revenue would go towards welfare, 50 per cent towards prize money and the rest for operating costs.
