HYDERABAD, MARCH 4. The Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, and the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, will head a galaxy of VIPs attending the funeral of G.M.C. Balayogi, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, in Amalapuram on Wednesday. On the instructions of the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, the East Godavari district administration has identified a 10-acre plot for the last rites. A memorial for the departed leader will also come up in Amalapuram on the lines of the NTR ghat in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, the body of Balayogi, which was kept at the NTR Bhavan here overnight, was flown to New Delhi early on Monday to enable MPs and others to pay homage. The State Ministers, P. Ashok Gajapati Raju, K. Srihari and Ch. Ramachandra Rao, and a member of the bereaved family travelled to New Delhi. Several MPs could not make it to New Delhi on account of a technical snag in the scheduled IA service. After four hours, the body was brought back to Rajahmundry, from where it was taken in a procession to Amalapuram town, headquarters of the constituency Balayogi represented.
