`Declare Ayodhya a disturbed area'

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI March 5. The Janata Party president, Subramanian Swamy, today demanded that Ayodhya be declared a disturbed area to prevent the mobilisation of VHP men at the disputed site.

Talking to reporters here, he said the Army must be deployed in the area and the VHP leaders arrested under POTO.

Demanding the dismissal of the Gujarat Government for its "clear abetment of the retaliatory murderous attacks by Hindu fanatics on innocent Muslims," he claimed the Chief Minister, Narendra Modi had "brazenly justified" the Hindu retaliation as "Newton's Third Law" saying for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

The Vajpayee Government, he said, had to take a "firm, decisive and clear stand" that the VHP could not disturb the status quo without a court order.

Dr. Swamy said it was surprising that the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, had not demanded the dismissal of the Gujarat Government.
