MADURAI, MARCH 9. The police achieved a breakthrough in the case of two Islamic fundamentalists' escape with the arrest of one of them, Hyder Ali, in Sivaganga today. A police team, led by the IG (South Zone), S. K. Dogra, nabbed Hyder Ali, near the Mannar Raja Duraisingam College. ``He offered no resistance and gave up when surrounded by the police'', Mr. Dogra told a crowded press conference here, adding that the fundamentalist was unarmed. The arrest came after two days of combing of the region around Madurai, after Imam Ali and Hyder Ali, accused in several cases in Coimbatore, Madurai and Kovilpatti, were whisked away by an armed gang from police custody near Tirumangalam after exploding country bombs on Thursday. Hyder Ali was brought to Madurai amidst tight security for interrogation.
