Addressing presspersons here on Monday, Sanjay Das, CEO, Playwin Infravest Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Essel group, said online lotteries would bring about a total change in the lottery scenario by providing transparent and secure operations. In India, the market size was estimated at Rs. 50,000 crore per annum. World over, the concept was well accepted and recognised as a major source of revenue for social causes. The global market size was $125 billion. Playwin had introduced `Super Lotto' through 2,000 terminals across the country on behalf of the Sikkim Government in the first phase. The first draw would be held on March 29 at Gangtok and telecast nationwide on the Zee Network. Besides Sikkim, State lotteries of Maharashtra and Karnataka were expected to be online in the next few months, he said. The technology for the online lottery system is being provided by International Lottery and Totalizator Systems (ILTS), a worldwide expert in gaming system from California. On Tuesday Playwin hit the magical figure of one million players in a single day. Mr. Sanjay Das said "Within three weeks of the launch of this online lottery, one million players have played their numbers at the Playwin computer terminals across the country and this vindicates the creditiblity and transparency of online lotteries and that of Playwin."
