Opinion - Letters to the Editor

Majority phobia

Sir, — The Prime Minister is reported to have described the Congress as "anti-national" for opposing the Bill on the Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance. Surely, he must be aware of the views of an eminent jurist like Fali S. Nariman who has succinctly brought out how the existing laws are fully equipped for tackling terrorism (March 24).

Quite clearly, it is not the lack of authority which is the root cause of the embattled feeling exhibited by the Government but its own majority phobia and its inability to control its followers in the Sangh Parivar.

A. Krishnamurthy,
Chennai
