Opinion - Letters to the Editor

Afraid to wound?

Sir, — If we observe the recent political developments at the Centre, particularly the mood of the NDA allies, it can be concluded that no ally is ready to destabilise the Government even if it means compromising its ideology. Some of them just make some noise and satisfy themselves.

At any cost, they don't want to sink the ship of the Vajpayee Government. Nonetheless, as some of the Centre's policies could harm their personal stature in future elections and there is uncertainty in the vote game, the parties also adopt the "shout and keep quiet policy," which is now paving the way for the smooth enactment of POTO. The secret bargain would surely benefit the allies in some form of political scoring.
