Two rescued from NLFT hideout

AGARTALA MARCH 30 . Security forces have rescued two abducted non-tribals from a hideout of the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and nabbed an ultra of the outfit in two separate incidents in Tripura, police said today.

A joint team of police and CRPF raided a hideout of the outfit at Nepaltila village in Dhalai district on Friday night and rescued Lokesh Talukdar (28) and Jhiten Balmik (25), kidnapped by the insurgents from Manu village on February 8, they said.

After a minor exchange of fire with the security forces, the ultras escaped. No casualty was reported from either side.

In the second incident, police raided Killa village of South Tripura district and arrested Dhanyaram Malsoom, an NLFT insurgent, and recovered several "incriminating" documents from his possession. — PTI
