Court records evidence in Tehelka case
New Delhi
March 30.
A Delhi court today completed the recording of preliminary evidence of the Samata Party president, Jaya Jaitly, and two others on her complaint seeking prosecution of tehelka.com, and its Editor-in-Chief, Tarun Tejpal, for allegedly defaming her by linking her name to the Armsgate scandal.
The statements of Ms. Jaitly and her witnesses, Kamlesh Mishra and Sunita Kanvinda, were recorded in the court of the Metropolitan Magistrate, Reena Singh Nag, who fixed April 14 for hearing the arguments on summons. Mr. Mishra, a TV journalist, and Ms. Kanvinda, a graphic designer, recorded their statement in support of the complaint.
In the complaint, Ms. Jaitly's lawyer had submitted that the website had displayed an article accusing her of misusing her office and indulging in corruption. PTI
