By Our Staff Reporter

BHUBANESWAR MARCH 30. A woman constable was found dead in the official residence of the officer-in-charge of Kanpur police station under Athgarh sub-division of Cuttack district in Orissa on Friday afternoon.

The victim, Manorama Basantaray (23), had bullet injury on the right side of her head and was holding the service revolver that belonged to the officer-in-charge, Mrutyunjay Narayan Panda.

The officer-in-charge and a constable, Jugal Kishore Pradhan, were absconding and have been placed under suspension, police sources said. As some foul play is suspected, the case has been handed over to the Crime Branch for investigation.
