ISD rates lowered

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI MARCH 30 . The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited today announced lower international tariffs from Monday. Changes have also been there in one STD distance slab. The rate cut meets a Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) directive in this regard and has no connection with the impending drop in rates due to competition.

The country's dominant operator of basic phones today said the new off-peak international rates would broadly match the current peak time rates while the new peak rates are about 10 to 15 per cent lower than the current tariff. The change in STD rates is confined to a slight change in the peak and concessional rates for intra-circle calls from and to the networks of other operators in the 50 km to 200 km slab.
