Kumble ready for battle

BANGALORE March. 30. The West Indies beckons. And Anil Kumble has set his eyes on an elusive series victory abroad. "Hopefully we will come back as winners - both in the Tests and in the One-dayers,'' he said after being conferred the `Citizen Extraordinaire Award' by the Rotary Club, Bangalore here on Saturday evening.

The award was a tribute to Kumble's cricketing achievements as well as his contributions to social causes. The Rotary Club Bangalore president Dr. Pradeep M. Rao presented the award.

Kumble was also presented with a Paul Harris Fellowship besides a honorary club membership. Nostalgia reigned supreme as Gundappa Vishwanath was also present on the occasion.

India's ace spinner mentioned the tour of the West Indies in his award acceptance speech. "We have a balanced team and hopefully we should do well,'' he said.
