In probably the first case of extradition of a wanted accused from India, the CBI handed over Yogesh Ratilal Shah to the Ministry of External Affairs today for taking him to the U.S. by the sleuths of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. CBI sources said that Shah had fled the U.S. in November and was arrested by the agency in Ahmedabad in January. A request for his extradition came from the U.S. and a Delhi court had declared his extradition. Sources said the U.S. had extradited two Sikh militants to India about two years ago but the extradition of an accused wanted for crimes allegedly committed in the U.S. has come across as a rather rare example.
