The Centre would also bear all the expenses for the rehabilitation of the riot-hit widows and orphaned children. A set of textbooks and school uniform to the children in the relief camps would be provided by the Centre. Improvements would be made to the living conditions in the relief camps. The Centre would also provide free of cost 35 kg of foodgrains to the riot-hit families below the poverty line. The expenses for foodgrains being supplied in the relief camps would be borne by the Centre. For the reconstruction of the houses in the rural areas destroyed in the riots, the Centre would provide Rs. 50,000 each while Rs. 15,000 would be paid for the repairing of partially damaged houses.
